Isis (Izida) was a goddess in Ancient Egyptian religious beliefs, whose worship spread throughout the Greco-Roman world. She was worshipped as the ideal mother and wife as well as the matron of nature and magic. She was the friend of slaves, sinners, artisans, the downtrodden, as well as listening to the prayers of the wealthy, maidens, aristocrats and rulers. Isis is the Goddess of motherhood, magic and fertility.

The goddess Isis (the mother of Horus) was the first daughter of Geb, god of the Earth, and Nut, the goddess of the Overarching Sky, and was born on the fourth intercalary day. At some time Isis and Hathor had the same headdress. In later myths about Isis, she had a brother, Osiris, who became her husband, and she then was said to have conceived Horus. Isis was instrumental in the resurrection of Osiris when he was murdered by Set. Her magical skills restored his body to life after she gathered the body parts that had been strewn about the earth by Set. This myth became very important in later Egyptian religious beliefs.

Isis is also known as the goddess of simplicity, protector of the dead and goddess of children from whom all beginnings arose. In later myths, the Ancient Egyptians believed that the Nile River flooded every year because of her tears of sorrow for her dead husband, Osiris. This occurrence of his death and rebirth was relived each year through rituals. Skopje is the capital and largest city of the Republic of Macedonia, with more than a quarter of the population of the country, as well as its political, cultural, economic, and academic centre. It was known in the Roman period under the name Scupi. The city developed rapidly after World War II, but this trend was interrupted in 1963 when it was hit by a disastrous earthquake. Today Skopje is a modern city with a wide range of cultural monuments.

Skopje is located at 42°0′N 21°26′E / 42°N 21.433°E / 42; 21.433, on the upper course of the Vardar River and is located on a major north-south Balkan route between Belgrade and Athens. My first postcard from Macedonia ever!

When i saw a first user from Macedonia on postcrossing forum, i have promptly sent U2U and asked for swap. Ana was very kind and she had sent me this postcard of macedonian capital city Skopje. Skopje is the largest city in Republic of Macedonia, located on the banks of the Vardar river. The site of Skopje was inhabited in roman period under the name Skupi. Today Skopje is a modern city with a wide range of cultural monuments. It was also a birthplace of byzantine emperor Justinian I. and Mother Teresa.

Ana suprised me with this postcard a half year ago. This is postcard of the Kale Fortress. I must be honest, i've never heard for that fortress before. The Kale Fortress is a historic fortress located in Skopje. It was partially destroyed by an earthquake in 1963 but was not reconstructed until recently. The fortress is depicted on the coat of arms of Skopje, which in turn is incorporated in the city's flag.

Todor "Toše" Proeski (Macedonian: Тодор „Тоше" Проески, [ˈtɔʃɛ ˈprɔɛski]) (January 25, 1981 – October 16, 2007) was a Macedonian pop singer, actor and song-writer. He was popular across the entire Balkan area and further north, and locally he was considered a top act of the Macedonian music scene. Proeski was known for his trademark quote "Ve sakam site" (I Love You All), and was once dubbed "Elvis Presley of the Balkans" by BBC News. He died in a car crash in Croatia on October 16, 2007.
